The order for this car was placed in March. All custom ordered to my specs, the spec sheet is below. It was thankfully one of the first ones produced and shipped to the United States.
It arrived in San Diego late last week and arrived at the dealership (Rusnak Porsche in Pasadena) on Monday. It was prepped there and I also had them apply the clear bra and change out the sidemarkers.
After delivery, I took it for a short blast in the canyons and man, it put a smile on my face. Here are my initial impressions over the 991.1 GT3:
- Wow, the new 4.0L engine is awesome! The numbers don't tell the details. While the 3.8L in the 991.1 GT3 had 475hp/325ft-lbs and this new 4.0L in the 991.2 GT3 has 500hp/339ft-lbs, the powerband is MUCH wider. The low end torque is phenomenal.
- The steering is improved. It feels a bit more direct.
- The shifting is smoother and faster (haven't tried it in Sport mode yet).
- The rear end is a bit more planted, it's a little harder to induce oversteer. I think it's the combination of the stickier tires and the additional aero.
- It’s noisier in terms of NVH, but the engine sounds amazing.
Overall the car is AWESOME. I'll be sure to report more soon.
