You may be wondering what is this blog? Another blog about cars? Yawn. Cars and guns? Hmm... maybe, but it's been done. Well, I'm not going to promise anything out of the ordinary, but I will promise some fun stuff and quality content.
My name is Phil, I'm your Editor here. I've shared my life, which has had lots of fun car, travel, food and recently shooting related things with my friends on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and the forums such as MBWorld, Bimmerpost, Rennlist, M5Board, etc. I've had a number of friends tell me that I should start a blog and just put it all out there because, some of the stuff I do is cool. Well, here it is...
A little about me. I've been racing cars for over a dozen years now. The track bug bit me in 2006 when I purchased a 2006 BMW M5. As part of the purchase of an M5, you received a one day BMW M School at their Performance Center in Greenville, South Carolina. I loved the experience and enjoyed being on track. Before this, I thought I was a hot shit driver, but when I got to the track, I was humbled. I saw it as an opportunity to improve on myself and to do something I enjoyed. So, I decided to go out to my local track, Buttonwillow Raceway Park, in my own M5 and have another crack at it... I still sucked. But, I really loved it. I kept wanting to go out to the track. I ended up joining BMW GmbH and M GmbH on a trip to their private and top-secret test track in Miramas, France, where I got to learn from some legit European racecar drivers... I then switched out my M5 for a 2012 Nissan GT-R, which I tracked considerably. I went to a lot of track days, hired a private coach (who is also contributing to this site now) and gradually got better. I went to more schools such as Skip Barber and just kept on tracking. I had the privilege of tracking at every racetrack in California. I've been sponsored by Nissan Motorsports and I am currently sponsored by GoPro and Motul. I got rid of my GT-R and sold it to a production company that would later use it in Fast in the Furious 7. I then started wanting to do wheel to wheel racing, so a few of my friends and I chipped in and bought some shitty race cars and starting racing in the 24 Hours of Lemons and Chumpcar...
Fast forward to years later, I now track a Porsche GT3, I've completed the AMG Academy Pro Program, I've tracked at the Nurburgring and Circuit of the Americas, I'm decently fast and I put down some fast times. In short, I'm not one of those bloggers that runs their mouth and can't drive, but I will wipe that grin off your face on the track.
Aside from the track, I'm passionate about cars, I've done European delivery multiple times. I've driven on the Autobahn all throughout Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria and more in my own cars and have done some awesome car related stuff like visiting Red Bull Hangar 7 (yes, it is real and exists outside of video games), the Porsche Museum, the Mercedes-Benz Museum and Factory in Sindelfingen, the BMW Museum, BMW Group Classic (which is not open to the public), BMW M GmbH (also not open to the public), AMG Headquarters in Affalterbach. Outside of Europe, I've gone to Japan, driven a right hand drive GT-R on Japanese roads and visited the Nismo Omori Factory as well as Nissan Headquarters in Yokohama. All of that is just a little part of my story...
I then got into guns. I had never owned a gun, but after a deranged individual followed me home and made threats against my life, I knew I had to do something. So, I did what everyone does, I bought the gun I loved using in Call of Duty--a HK USP. Some of my friends set me up with an instructor that trained me and encouraged me to shoot in IDPA. I then started shooting in IDPA and USPSA and was hooked. So, while I'm not as proficient I as I am with cars, I'm starting to learn more about guns and am now collecting competition guns for almost every competiton division.
That's a little about me. I hope you'll join me as we post more cool things on this blog.
